About the Artist

More Than a Likeness. A Life.

Each portrait begins with a story — not just of the face, but of the person behind it. Discover the world of Daniqa: where art, fashion, and emotion collide.

Faces, Always Faces

I Paint Faces. Obsessively

Before I ever turned professional, I was already completely infatuated with faces. I studied them, chased expressions in cafés, during meetings, at parties — and especially in the long, hypnotic “internals” in advertising agencies (trust me, no one can fake charm for three hours straight — it’s a goldmine). I sketched thousands of them. Still do. You could call it an obsession. I call it research.

Artistic Vision

Each artwork reflects a unique narrative, blending elegance and emotion. My work aims to connect deeply with the viewer, inviting them into a world of beauty and introspection.

Craftsmanship

With meticulous attention to detail, I ensure that each portrait showcases the highest standard of craftsmanship. The result is a stunning piece worthy of its own place in your home.

From Fabric to Form

A Fashion Designer’s Eye

I studied fashion design — a discipline where silhouette, line and atmosphere collide. Where emotion is stitched into seams.

And that background? It never left me. It still shapes how I approach painting today.

I think with my pencil like a couturier with chalk. I sketch outfits that don’t just flatter — they speak. They become part of the person. Sometimes it’s a tribute to the client’s real wardrobe, other times it’s a whisper of what they might secretly dream of wearing — high fashion as inner life. We don’t always get to wear couture in real life, but a portrait? That’s a place where we can.

The Faces That Shaped Me

My Personal Pantheon

My pantheon is… eclectic. Tamara Lempicka — for her elegance and graphic boldness (yes, I know her great-granddaughter and yes, I’m showing off). Egon Schiele and Gustav Klimt — for their unapologetic genius. And the one you might not expect: Norman Rockwell. Because sometimes, cover art says more about a decade than a hundred essays.

What fascinates me is how infinite the ways are to look at a person — and how gloriously unchanged we humans are, century after century.

The Soul of a Museum

Portraits Are Time Machines

Out of all the museums in the world — and I’ve been to most of them — my heart belongs not to MoMA (forgive me, you are my second), but to the Portrait Gallery in London.

I can spend hours there. Just standing. Just looking.

There’s something quietly thrilling about staring into the face of someone who lived hundreds of years ago. They were real. They had a favourite chair. A bad ankle. A love letter hidden in a drawer. I always wonder: What made them laugh? Who did they fear? Were they bored at dinner? How did they looked when they were old?

My Fashion Icons

The Rebels Who Sculpted My Eye

I studied fashion design, so silhouettes and textures are in my blood. But it’s the rule-breakers who shaped my aesthetic. Vivienne Westwood. Jean Paul Gaultier. McQueen. Chloé. Hervé Léger. Each of them taught me something about power, contradiction, and beauty that doesn’t apologise.

And then there’s Emilio Pucci — the master of psychedelic ornament. He showed me that pattern isn’t just decoration; it’s expression. That boldness can be elegance. That colour can whisper, or shout, or seduce — sometimes all at once.

These are the names I carry with me when I paint. Their couture visions taught me to sculpt portraits like they sculpted bodies. That’s why I often add hand-drawn outfits to my portraits — dream silhouettes, impossible textures, high-fashion moments you’d never wear on a Tuesday. And yet… isn’t that what art is for? To wear the version of yourself you don’t always have time for?

Drawn With an Impatient Line

How I Learned to Tell Stories with a Line and a Glance

Some people dream in colour. I dream in gesture. In ink. In detail. That’s why I was drawn — quite literally — to illustrators like René Gruau, David Downton, Eric Erickson. They captured more with one line than most of us can with an entire photoshoot.

Then came the photographers. William Klein. David LaChapelle. I devoured their fashion editorials not for the clothes, but for the characters. The attitude. The play. The bold theatricality of it all. Every frame was a universe. Every shadow had a secret.

Their work taught me that a portrait isn’t just about representation. It’s about invention. It’s about finding the mood, the narrative, the rhythm beneath the surface. That’s what I try to bring to my own pieces: a whisper of style, a hint of fantasy, and always — always — the truth of the sitter beneath it all.

The Truth Behind the Face

What I Do Now

I paint because I’m fascinated by the way personality leaves fingerprints on the face. How a moment of thought can fold into a furrow. How beauty can flash through a wrinkle or hide in a fleeting glance.

When I was a student, I painted portraits to pay the rent. Women came to me — often sent by men who were head-over-heels for them. And I quickly learned that the most beautiful faces weren’t the most symmetrical. It was the way they moved. The softness of their smile. Their stillness. Their mystery.

Those portraits were the hardest. Because copying a face is easy. But capturing someone’s essence — their truth — that takes time. It takes care. It takes love.
